BIODATA OF GADADHAR PUTY

BIOBRIEF


GADADHAR PUTY is an alumnus of prestigious Film & Television Institute of India, Pune. Born in a small village, Pathuri in Mayurbhanj District he is a graduate from MPC College Baripada , and did his master degree in English literature from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack.


He took interest in writing short stories from his school days but was short-lived as his interest was shifted to another creative field of art, i.e., cinema.


As a part of his Diploma Film at FTII, Pune Puty scripted directed and edited SAPNA, a featurette in Hindi which drew attention of FILM MAKERS IN MUMBAI. But he opted for Orissa to contribute his talent for the development of cinema in his mother tongue, Oriya.


Immediately after completion of training in film making at FTII, he got to make his first feature film in Oriya, ASHARA AKASHA in 1983. It won 3 State film Awards and ran for 50 days in commercial circuits.


Puty also edited feature films like NISIDDHA SWAPNA(Forbidden Dream), TARA, AW AKAARE AA (A.B.She), KICHHI SMRUTI KICHHI ANUBHUTI, DOORA DIGANTA (Distant Horizon), etc all of which have been honoured by National Film Awards.


His latest film POOJA PAEEN PHOOLATIE (A Rose for Pooja) is the story of deep bond between two little girls who pass through a series of turbulent emotional phases. Beneath a very simple & emotional story, Puty has left a deep and profound philosophy of life in this film.


This film is honored by 6 State film Awards including Best Film, Best Direction, Best Story, Best Cinematography, Best Child Artist & Best Female Singer. Recently Ministry of I & B, Government of India has declare to honour the film with National Award for Best Oriya Film for 2006.


Puty has won 4 State Film Awards: twice for Film Editing, once each for Film Story and Film Direction.


He has made two very noteworthy tele-films, BIBARA and DOORABHASA based on the stories by Tarunkanti Mishra.


Currently Puty is serving as the Head of Production at SIET, Bhubaneswar.
